Extension of the Roman Catholic Vicarage in Pestszentimre

Built in 2003, the vicarage forms an integral unit with the church and the churchyard. Based on the needs of the close-knit community, the Archbishopric of Esztergom-Budapest wanted to construct a versatile and multifunctional space with a prayer room for the social and spiritual gatherings of the community. The key element of the programme is a large community room that can be split into smaller units with movable partition walls. We used reinforced concrete beams of different heights. We built two large community spaces with closed and open corridors. The extension supports parish functions and gives a new entrance and waiting spaces for visitors. The ideas were implemented in six months. After the building was handed over, cardinal Péter Erdő consecrated it.
